"permission denied" modifying Public Folder contacts (very frustrating)
I am unable (as Administrator or another privileged user) to modify or delete certain contacts in our Public Folders. The error I receive states:"Your changes could not be saved because you don't have permission to modify some or all of the items in this folder. Do you want to save a copy of this item in teh default folder for the item?"I verified that I (Administrator) am listed in the Permissions tab as "Owner", with all permissions necessary to modify an item.I am running Exchange 2000 on SBS 2000 Server. Please offer any suggestions I may use to get closer to a resolution.Thank yOu!

Hi,
Please download PFDevAdmin tool and follow the below steps to grant permission to the user.
http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/f/0/2f0d72e2-a97a-49b6-879a-3b405cab017e/PFDAVAdmin.EXE
1. Open PFDevAdmin and connect to the Exchange server in question.
2. Expand Public Folder store.
3. Right click on the public folder exhibiting the issues and select check Item level permissions
4. Right click on the Public Folder, select properties and remove item level permissions
Hope it helps.

Before I followed your steps, I did something that actually helped. I exported the PF into a PST, and imported it to a new PF. Now I (administrator) can modify all contacts (it appears), but another user which I explicitely set to "Owner" level permissions is still unable to modify some contacts. So I then followed your suggestion. Both steps 3 & 4 indicated that there were 0 items with item level permissions, and the problem remains.
